How to help out!
Help us make a difference in the American schooling system, in our libraries, and in our future generations lives!
VOLUNteer!
Join us in the fight for the freedom to read. As a volunteer with the Banned Books Initiative, you’ll help lead awareness campaigns, support student-led programs, and connect communities with resources to resist censorship. Whether through events, outreach, or creative projects, your time and passion make a real impact in protecting access to diverse voices and stories. Check out our volunteer page!
Start a chapter!
Bring the movement to your community by launching a Banned Books Initiative chapter. As a chapter leader, you’ll empower local teens to stand up for the freedom to read through events, discussions, and advocacy. We’ll provide resources, training, and ongoing support—so you can focus on building impact and creating change where it matters most. Check out our Partnerships Program!
DONATE
Your donation helps us empower teens, partner with libraries, and raise awareness about censorship nationwide. Every contribution—big or small—goes directly toward programs, events, and resources that protect the freedom to read and amplify diverse voices. Together, we can ensure access to stories that matter.
